Keren Fedida shooting with the Lomo LC-A+

I’ve never been much of a matchmaker. But sometimes a couple seems so right for each other, that you can’t resist. That is how the relationship began between professional photographer Keren Fedida and her new bff, the Lomo LC-A+ I thought, I simply must get these two together!

I’ve never been much of a matchmaker. But sometimes a couple seems so right for each other, that you can’t resist. That is how the relationship began between professional photographer Keren Fedida and her new bff, the Lomo LC-A+. I thought, “I simply must get these two together!”

Keren was well-versed in the high-end SLRs, with all their fancy-pants knobs and switches. But I knew she would swoon when she saw how simple and elegant the Lomo LC-A+ was.

Keren went to Belize with her new love, and brought along the new self-portrait kit to help capture their adventure.

Even if their love doesn’t last, they will always have Belize…

How long have you been a Lomographer (or are you new to this whole thing?)
Keren Fedida: Brand New! I took my first Holga shot in November 2007. First LC-A+ shot in April 2008.

Describe the LC-A+ in five words
KF: I believe in packing light.

The strangest, funniest, or hands-down greatest photographic/Lomographic encounter that you have ever had
KF: That is a hard one I can’t mention just one…

Incident #1:
I forgot a Holga roll in my pants and washed and dried it for about good 2 hours, on top of it all the roll was untaped… the results came out psychedelic… it was right up the alley with the theme of what i shot, a Holi Phagwah paint party….

Incident#2:
Was the time i walked down the street in SOHO and accidentally walked into a Pharrell Williams Store sign in. all the kids there were a perfect photo opp and when Pharrell himself finally showed up i happened to stand right next to him and he walked right to me i snapped it all of course.

If your photos shown here could have a soundtrack of three songs, what would they be?
KF: That is easy.

  • RJD2 – 1976
  • MGMT – electric feel
  • Bob Marley – Three Little Birds

So, most of your Amigo Portfolio was shot in Belize! What brought you there, and how was it?
KF: It was a very Long Winter! i needed a vacation+tan. Also i am trying to get my portfolio for shooting Islands and Resorts. It seems to be working so far because i closed a deal with the owner of the island to go back and shoot his new marketing package.

If you could be anywhere, doing anything, right now where would it be and what would you do?
KF: Being paid to fly around the world and take pictures, or working for Lomo. (hint hint)

Is shooting yourself easier than shooting someone else? Are you more comfortable behind or in front of the camera?
KF: I do both very well, but i’d rather be behind the camera. (I have control issues).

We’re all a bit jealous about the obviously slamming Roots DJ party that you shot! Tell us more about that.
KF: I am friends with the drummer of the band so i just happened to be there to support and have a good time… It was a private album release party for their new album Rising Down, and my friend Questlove (Ahmir Thompson) rocked the party at the DJ booth! It was a real 80’s style hip hop scene. My little Lomo drew so much attention that i ran out of business cards. ’runs to order new ones’. End results, when Questlove saw the Live Party shots he requested a 2 day tutorial on shooting film… Bingo!

The one person (living or deceased) who you would most like to photograph.
KF: Ayyy Karamba! what a question! the list is long. Johnny Depp! If not available then Bob Dylan will do.

Your advice to future Lomo LC-A+ shooters.
KF: Burn the first shot of each roll on making sure the film got caught properly…. (i seem to have a problem with it… )
