Tell us about yourself. What do you do for a living? What are your interests?

I’m a 2D/3D CAD Designer for Plastic Injection Molding industry. Besides Lomography, I like to organize events and photo exhibitions, I also do lecture workshops related to analogue photography.

How long have you been a Lomographer and how did you find out about the Community?

I’ve been a Lomographer since 2005/2006. It was easy to get used to Lomography, I was born in 1977 and I have always took photos with film cameras, the transition was quite smooth.

I’ve learned about Lomography when I was reading a very small article about a yellow Supersampler, a few months later I’ve bought one almost accidentally.

Describe the LomoKino in five words.

Fun, compact, analogue, short, easy.

How did you like shooting with the LomoKino?

I like to do some planning before shooting with the LomoKino. A steady base, like a tripod, is also important. I like to capture people on their daily lives.

What or who has inspired you to purchase and use the LomoKino?

Actually, it was a birthday gift. I was planning on shooting a short film for some time in a Super 8 camera but it is very difficult to use this film format at present. The arrival of the Lomokino was a breath of fresh air.

Any funny or strange encounters you’ve had with it?

When I was shooting for a showcase in a festival of short films, I decided to shoot a group of traditional dances in public, when I looked back, I had a handful of people staring at the camera. It was quite embarrassing.

If you could shoot any person alive or dead (or imaginary) with your LomoKino, who would it be and why?

That’s a tough question… I guess I would like to shoot Tom Waits, I like his music and he is quite a character .He would fit just like a glove in a LomoKino movie.

Kindly share to us any LomoKino movie you love the most.

Miss Cat e o Rapaz Cão – Do you wanna Jazz. It’s one of six LomoKino moveis I made for a band showcase (Miss Cat e o Rapaz Cão). I like this because it is a typical Portuguese dance that is in danger of disappearing and it was during this shooting when people stared at my LomoKino.

Any future plans with your LomoKino? More shoots or a full-length film perhaps?

I’m planning on making a short film based on spaghetti western, a kind of small tribute to Sergio Leone but the idea is still under study. Full-length film? Maybe later. It takes a lot of planning on film but it is a very good idea.

Your advice to future LomoKino users.

Use a stable base as a tripod for example, carry enough film and always make a plan of what you want to shoot. It’s the best way to make the most of your precious film. Finally, the best advice I can give is to have fun.
