Moussa, Gabby & the Safaristi

On our journey to West Africa, we had a 2 day Safari in the Pendjari National Parc. We didn't have too much luck in seeing the big four, so I rather concentrated on taking photographs of people. Our driver Moussa didn't talk much, but he enjoyed the interest of me and Vicuna and gladly posed for some portraits. Gabby our travelagent talked a lot and wansn't shy either to be immortalized on film. We would have to aske Stéphane how our guide in the Pak was called, I am a sucker for names. Véro, Gérard and Stéphane couldn't help to be captured by my lazy eye as well. This was actually the first time I used 220 film and it was an elevation.

@neja yes I know, you have experienced a real safari with loads of great animals, i envy you :) the thing with the Pendjari Park is, that there not so many big Animals (i saw elephant footsteps though) and it was just the end of the wet season. the dryer it gets, the more animals you will see gathering ariound the water pits. We payed 600 Euros a person, including the ride from Ouga to the Pendjari (almost a day) and all accomondations. Because we had a car break down we lost one day. Chaos, but it was fun anyway :)

problem with animals is that there are not many left. there are just 32 rhinos left in the whole of Serengeti and you can't even go and see them cause they have to be guarded by the armed wardens. Chinese people want them all dead for the trophies. same goes for elephants and lions... very sad.
