Ginkaku-ji
Ginkakuji was built in 1482 as a retirement villa of Shogun Ashikaga Yoshimasa. He intended to coat the structure with silver in imitation of the Gold Pavilion built by his grandfather. However, this could be accomplished because he died before the completion.
