Jhongjhou Fishing Port, Kaohsiung

Jhongjhou Fishing Port is one of the few places that still preserve their traditional looks, including the ice-cube factories, shipyards, seafood restaurants, and the ferry stations. Walking into the harbor visitors will find that the ambience and the structure of the harbor are still well preserved. Jhongjhou has been an interior port of Kaohsiung Harbor. Before Kaohsiung Harbor was constructed, the venue had only been a sandy beach located in Cijin District. On its east is the fairway in Kaohsiung Harbor. On its north are Jhongjhou Ferry Station and the local community, both of which are around Shangjhuli Fishing Port, which accommodates fishing boats under the tonnage of 20. Because of the sandy geological trait and the development of local community, the harbor is unable to expand its hinterland and accommodating capacity. In the future, priorities would be given to the maintenance of current facilities to ensure sustainable fishery.
