Brought out the FP-UL and used the 4x5 pack film back for the first time. I didn't realize it had a depth meter that tells you the right focal distance until I'd taken a few shots. Pretty cool hunk of a camera. I'd also never used the 4x5 size of the FP line, pretty impressed and sad that it no longer exists. I tried to do my bleach process to recover the negatives which surprisingly was possible with the 45 size (its not on the smaller pack film fp3000b as far as I've tried)

...the crazy thing is, the moment the emulsion side touches water, it turns into a psychedelic dry-lakebed lookin' hellscape and destroys the image. For some reason, one of them miraculously didn't do it at all and I was able to recover it. The positives were very faded but I brought some contrast back in post.

    compartido por roaringtree en 2024-02-18

Begonia flowers and leaves on 40 year + expired Kodabrome paper. At least 4 hours exposure in full sun as every part of the plant was thick and fleshy so I knew it would need a lot of light. I wetted all the plant material and clamped it tightly under glass. Colours are not enhanced other than the effect of increasing contrast which intensifies them a bit. My first attempts with Begonia were a dismal failure but I kept trying!

‘Distorted Bodies’ explores our distorted versions of Beauty and the impact this has on us. Stemming from my own experience with an Eating Disorder and Body Dysmorphia, I aim to use photography to visualise obscure perspectives that question an individual’s perception of their body. This series explores using Emulsion Lifts to manipulate the body within a Polaroid photograph. Working with this fragile medium is challenging; the artwork is created in water with delicate positioning. Within this I explore manipulating the arrangement of the emulsion to provide an abstract take on the form of the body. #polaroid #polaroidemulsionlift #distortedbodies #artwork #bodyimage

Cut Chrysanthemum flowers well past their best so why not try using them for a cyanolumen? I had some Ilford Warmtone fibre based matt paper and thought it might take the cyanotype solution better. It does! All day exposure clamped under glass with sunlight hitting the frame for a few hours. I was amazed that the white flowers ended up with a translucent look. Vinegar liberally splashed on and flower heads well wetted.
