Around the World in Analogue: Cluj-Napoca, Romania

In Romania, there is a type of museum that you will find in many cities all over the country: the Village Museum (also called Ethnographic Park). These museum exhibits original farmsteads and peasant workshops dating between 17th and 20th centuries as well as clothing, pottery, furniture, tools and other various household objects and paraphernalia from the respective periods. It is like taking a trip back in time.

Fellow lomographer @iulianna and I took advantage of the snow brought by the cold wave that struck Europe at the end of February and visited the beautiful National Ethnographic Park "Romulus Vuia" from Cluj-Napoca, the first open-air museum in Romania. We were pretty lucky because the sky was clear that day and the sun was warming us so we spent almost three hours there. The planning of the park is so well-thought-out that most of the time you feel like you really are walking through an actual old Transylvanian village. I highly recommend visiting this museum in winter as well as in summer when the park is all green and you can even enter the old houses and admire the great folk interior design and art.
