Around the World in Analogue: Tibet, China

“Around the World in Analogue” is your bite-size guide to the most amazing travel destinations across the globe, as documented by the members of the Lomography community. Today, Lomographer Jaclyn (@lomographer_to_be) recalls her memorable trip to the unspoiled landscape of Tibet.

As an avid traveller, one of the most memorable trips with my film camera is my visit to Tibet last summer. It was my graduation trip with my friends and I chose to visit Tibet because of its beauty, Tibet is often perceived as a mystic place due to its limited access, and in fact, because of this, the natural landscape and ancient temples are nicely preserved there. We hired a driver, who is a Tibetan, to tour us around the province. Along the way, we gained more understanding of the culture and values of Tibetans.

Apart from the magnificent scenery, I also used the camera to capture my encounters with local people and animals. I was stunned by how nature was preserved in Tibet. I saw animals such as sheep, horses, dogs and oxen living with the locals harmoniously during my trip. It was a tremendously beautiful picture to a person who is from a city like me.
