   I knew when I saw this album months ago that you'd benefit from doing your own scans! These new scans have much more depth to the color palate. Congratulations on the purchase! I use a similar (but more advanced) V700 model scanner. Let me know if you wanna know my workflow for post-processing. Not all negatives will look pretty straight out of the scanner w/o any adjustment.

   @marcus_loves_film: Thanks! And thanks a lot for your offer too. I'll try to figure things out myself first, but will be sure to hit you up for advice if I run into any snags. In fact, I have a question straight away: what's the point of the negative carrier when you can place the negs straight onto the glass? Also, what advantage, if any, does the DigitaLIZA offer? (Assuming you've used one.)

   @buckshot The film holder positions the film approximately 3mm above the glass which is the optimum focus point for maximum sharpness. If you place the film directly on the glass your scans may lack sharpness and have what is called 'newton rings'. Also the negatives may not lie perfectly flat and can bow or curl up--thus affecting sharpness--so the negative carrier holds them down. The DigitaLIZA has the advantage of keeping the film flat and allowing you to scan the sprocket holes and edge marking of the film which the Epson holders do not allow. Cheers!
