Images of the final days of a shopping arcade, once modern and suffused by the optimism of the architects who opened up walkways to the skies of a country known mainly for filthy leaden drizzle, and which has since been inexorably degrading and collapsing and sinking under the weight of its own unfulfilled expectations. Each time the scabrous shutters rattle to the ground it may well be for the last time until finally the arcade and its shopkeepers face the certainty of abandonment with life now but a short time of defiant grasping and gasping before being pulled apart and reduced to a smear of rubble.
