Kasha-Katuwe is a geologic formation composed of loosely-packed volcanic tuff. Tuff is very susceptible to erosion and over time can form extravagant formations such as the slot canyons and hoodoos pictured here. The site holds religious and spiritual significance to the Cochiti people.
