Madrid Street Life I
These photographs were taken with an ancient Nikkormat FTN that I just got second hand from Holland. The camera arrived in disgusting condition, it was utterly filthy, and all the foam elements inside - the mirror bumper in particular, were disintegrating, and showering the interior of the camera with sticky residue. I cleaned it up thoroughly with alcohol and distilled water (only distilled water on the focus screen) and it came up really good. I replaced all the light seals, and shot a 24-frame film (more on that in a minute) to test the camera. I hope you agree that it was worth the effort! The lens is a 50mm f2 pre-AI Nikkor lens that fortunately has had the factory upgrade to AI, so I can use it on my Nikon FE without any hassles. The photos were shot in South Madrid, I hope they give the (correct) impression that the local council does a really good job of providing a well-planned, green, and spacious environment for the citizens. These were shot on some 100 ISO German film that a friend had lying around, and was 15 years out of date. I reduced the ISO by one and a half stops, and I hope you agree, I think the results were pretty good! More urban landscapes to follow from the same batch of film.
