More motorbike madness!
Here you see a Ducati 900 SS, 1998 model, and a 1987 model Suzuki GSXR 750. Although the Ducati only has a half fairing, it is in fact the 900 cc engine, not the 750 cc engine. I ordered it this way, because I really like the V-twin Ducati air cooled engine, and I wanted to show it off, rather than cover it in red plastic. This was the first motorbike I ever bought brand new, after saving for it for over a year. I bought the 750 as a wreck, and rebuilt it, putting it back to original. Then I put on a full Yoshimura race exhaust system and attempted to tune the carburettors with Dyno-Mite needles. In fact, this ruined the carburation, made the bike incredibly thirsty, and had a negligible effect on performance. The lesson is, these big Japanese companies have very well trained, very intelligent, and well paid engineers who decide how bikes should be set up. Backyard mechanics such as myself are never going to improve on the work of these well qualified Japanese engineers! These photos were taken in 1998-2000 on Kodak S 200 film, and scanned in on an ancient Epson flatbed scanner in 2024.
