floating spirits (indonesia #8)

all of a sudden I found myself among a cremation ceremony in ubud. at the riverside a family solemnly parted from the dead. chanting and praying, giving gifts to the floating water. even releasing a duck back to life. I was greateful to be let in into this inner circle...

    I experienced too one Balinese ceremony during my stay in Ubud. It's called "Otonan", so this ceremony celebrates the growth of one children, the ceremony itself was at night. This man above is one special "holy guru", there's a Balinese name for it but I really forgot. Such a nice photo! Really captures the reality of one holy ceremony in Bali especially in Ubud. :)

    @adi_totp Oh Adi - thank you so much for your information - very valuable, my friend. I think in this case it was for passing two dead family members. I thought it was quite impressive for letting me be there...

    You are welcome. Yes, they are very welcome to any people. I learned a lot about Balinese culture during my stay there but now I forgot them all, I must write something about it soon :D
