4 4We sure get used to shooting with our favorites, don’t we? Nic won’t go anywhere without his LC-Wide. I’m almost always carrying the Lubitel, and Joe can’t be separated from his Diana+.
When it comes down to it, some our cameras are straight-up neglected. On a recent workshop, we were teaching Multi-Lens camera tips and tricks. It had been years since I shot with the SuperSampler, and you know what? I fell back in love with it.
The mystery of the motion, the chance and the luck that go into getting the shots… There was a true element of surprise in shooting with it that I’d forgotten about. After all, isn’t part of the fun of Lomography shooting from the hip?
I suppose that I’d forgotten how much fun the strange and off-beat cameras can be. Sometimes it’s important to give some attention to our first loves, to the cameras that really lit the fire for Lomography. A look back through my photos over time says a lot about the way my interests and my eye has changed.
When did you start shooting film? What was your first Lomo camera? I’d love to hear about your experiences, and your evolution as film photographers.
Until next time!
