Burg und Schloss Stein

Die Burg Stein, auch bekannt als Schloss Stein, ist eine beeindruckende und gut erhaltene Burganlage. Um 1200 im spätromanischen Stil erbaut, thront sie hoch über der Zwickauer Mulde. Einst diente sie dem Schutz des Herrschaftssitzes Hartenstein und einem wichtigen Flussübergang. Ihre klare Baustruktur mit Palas, Burghof, Kapelle und Bergfried, umgeben von doppelten Ringmauern, Wassergraben und Wall, macht sie besonders markant.

Burg Stein, also known as Schloss Stein (Stone Castle), is an impressive and well-preserved castle complex. Built around 1200 in the late Romanesque style, it sits high above the Zwickauer Mulde river. It once served to protect the Hartenstein manorial seat and an important river crossing. Its clear structural layout, featuring a keep (Palas), courtyard, chapel, and main tower (Bergfried), all surrounded by double ring walls, a moat, and an embankment, makes it particularly striking.
