This film has been discontinued and nobody really seemed to care, unlike when Fuji slashed yet another film. It's replaced with Kentmere 400, renamed for the occasion Kentmere Pan 400. I absolutely love Kentmere film and shoot it often, because of its smooth grainy tones and its latitude but I will miss Pan 400 for its deep blacks and lovely retro looks.
Finally, I've managed to find a roll of Ortho Plus 80. It's sharp and it's got a tight grain structure. I was expecting something really bold in terms of contrast like with the other orthochromatic films I have tried before but this one is quite subtle when it comes to its tonal gradation.

I know no better way to test a new setup than to shoot stray cats. And by using that metric to judge of the optical quality of the diminutive Hexanon AR 40mm f/1.8, I am fairly impressed. Keep in mind, it's shot wide open (f/1.8) on what was the kit lens, and a pancake one!

Double first try: first try with this glorious film, that I could finally find here and first try with this gorgeous lens, which is quite hefty (bigger than my Pentax 135mm!), built like a dreadnought and very sharp, but I misfocused here. He moved actually but it was a candid shot so after the shutter release and its thunderous slap (actually rather quiet but still not that discreet), I can't stay to take another one.

Testing an old camera that came into your hands is always an exciting experience, especially when the camera is fully functional! A friend of mine gifted me an old Canon AE1 that belonged to her dad, complete with 4 different lenses and filters!!! This is the second test roll, an expired Lomo Slide. I cannot understand why some of the pics came out so underexposed but I'm guessing I have more things to learn about using this fabulous camera!
Poros is a small island very close to Athens, ideal for weekends. Luckily, I have a friend who lives there and I visit her from time to time. These shots were taken at the beginning of August 2017, with my Minolta Dynax 505 and a Fuji Superia 200 iso.
