Polish Vacation
Not a vacation in Poland, which would be nice, but a vacation for the Polish chickens, separated out from the rest of the flock in a nice, shady, roomy pen all to themselves.
It's the name of the breed -- although historically they apparently have no connection to Poland and appear to be native to the Netherlands and are related to other Western European crested chicken such as the French Crevecoeur. No one so far has been able to track down when or why the breed came to be called "Polish." And now you know way more than you ever wanted to know about these silly birds. ;)
