Sinterklaas
Sinterklaas is the guy you americans all know as Santa Clause (if you know how we pronounce it you'll see a resemblance)
We celebrate Saint Nicholas by giving eachother presents. When europeans went to North America they brought the tradition along and some time later it changed to a christmas celebration in combination with a fat guy that, like sinterklaas, manages to squeeze himself thru the chimney to bring gifts ^^
