    I live not far from the sites of the former Collieries, Betshanger Chislet and Snowdown. As soon as the National Coal Board shut them down in 1980's the winding towers were removed and the shafts filled with concrete. The government made damn sure they could never be re-opened. Your lucky that this one is reasonably intact.

    @lieutenant_pigeon Well, the place is not THAT intact. In fact the shafts were also filled and the Colliery will never reopen again, thats for sure! I guess it's just too expensive to break it all down...
