My son Arthur and I went to the Wanstone and Fan Bay batteries and the Fan Bay deep shelter. These were left over from WW2, but attempts made by the authorities under 'Operation Eyesore' were largely unsuccessful. National Trust bought the land in 2015 & 2018 and have cleared away the vegetation and spoil to reveal the archaeology left behind.
