Argentina #17 - From El Chaltén to El Calafate
compartido por gheinz en 2024-02-22On August 4, 2023, in bitterly cold weather, we left El Chaltén to reach El Calafate, a little further south, still via the legendary Ruta 40. The peaks of Fitz Roy will remain visible for a good part of the journey. We also make a stop at the famous Parador La Léona, halfway between El Chaltén and El Calafate. A unique place, this guesthouse has existed since 1894 and welcomes all travelers who take route 40 north or south...

Argentina #18 - The Perito Moreno Glacier #1
compartido por gheinz en 2024-02-25After our arrival in El Calafate (where it was polar cold), we went to discover the extraordinary Perito Moreno glacier, which is located 80 km from El Calafate. It is an absolutely fascinating spectacle to see this glacier, which continues to advance, at a time when we know that glaciers are increasingly threatened by global warming. We even had the chance to witness the calving phenomenon.

Argentina #3 - Playa Bonita
compartido por gheinz en 2023-12-31After spending a week in Buenos Aires (but I still have quite a few photos of Buenos Aires left), we took a domestic flight to San Carlos de Bariloche, a winter sports resort that borders the Nahuel Huapi, a large glacial lake surrounded by the Andes mountain range. We had accommodation in the Playa Bonita area. First steps in the neighborhood and discovery of the magnificent Nahuel Huapi lake.

Back in Poland #4
compartido por gheinz en 2023-03-04In April, we returned as a family to Poland, after my trip which had a profound effect on me in April 2019. On the program, Krakow (where I had the immense hope of finding @tomczykd), Warsaw, but also the unavoidable stage of the Auschwitz camp. Here, fourth and last album of the "back in Poland". Some shots taken on our last day in Warsaw, with my #Minolta FM3a and #Kodak #Gold 200 film, and my #Neptune #Thalassa #artlens.

compartido por danryder en 2023-12-08A Ukrainian man came up and spoke to me when I was lining up this photo of Engles. He expresses his confusion that there should be a statue in Manchester "especially with what's going on in Russia". I enjoyed speaking to him for a few minutes and he told me he used to have the same Pentax MX camera I was using so in the end I let him take this one. He also took a portrait of me but didn't get the settings right to be able to see anything unfortunately. I hope I bump into him again.

compartido por danryder en 2023-12-08I kept these in such good condition until a drunken evening in Margate. Stupidly, looking back, we decided to go for a swim in the sea in the early hours of the morning. We survived without a scratch, unfortunately the same can't be said for my shoes which either lost their sheen or gained some ruggedness depending on which side of the bed you get out of.

compartido por danryder en 2023-12-08Tried out some Kodak gold for this one. I think I was a bit more trigger happy with this roll, perhaps there's a few I'm ambivalent about but I still hugely enjoyed it. It's also quite a true to life roll of film, I think I preferred the Fuji, almost reliving the moments from a different perspective.

compartido por danryder en 2023-12-08It used to be a safe haven for skaters here, unfortunately they have now turned it into a space for corporate consumerism veiled as independent businesses. Right now it's an ice skating rink, which can be nice, but I don't think it was necessary to move the chosen location to take over a space that a community already uses and enjoys from it's previous location that was barren all year round.
