    I have to admit, I'm a little disappointed, because I really thought of a m-mount... too bad, it's only for nikon/canon users again...

    @faaabii We just released the Minitar Lens for the M-Mount. I'm sure there will be more for all the m-mount users soon as well :)

    @pan_dre I know... call me ever-hungry. I'm already waiting for the Minitar Lens... haha... but thinking about the Petzval with m-mount made me wanting this, too... ._.

    @pan_dre Why is there not a M42 Petzval??!! This is the most common mount in the world and can be adapted to almost anything else. You are tending to freeze out your own fan base. It's the same thing with the Minitar; why is it not in M39 with adapters??!!!

    And @pan_dre Waterhouse stops are just lame and totally 1840, not cute!! The Petzvals should have 9 curved bladed diaphragms with maybe a slot for custom diaphragm. Examine a Jupiter 3 lens' diaphragm. Waterhouse stops just get lost...

    Hi @herbert-4! I think the charm of this lens is to reflect the original and be a bit 1840. Also we like to have perfectly round apertures and the option customise them whatever way you feel like. If you put your waterhouse stops on a ring or something losing them is not so much an issue.

    As for the mounts, we try to make everybody happy and produced lenses for different systems already. Canon and Nikon mounts are pretty much a standard in the SLR world and we have a good experience with them from the last Petzval Lens project. That doesn't mean that there will never be one for M42 or M like @faaabii was mentioning.

    @pan_dre M42 can be adapted to everything except Exacta/Topcon and Sigma SA that have smaller throats/shorter back focus. This is measurement and machine work. If it had been on a T-mount, it could have fit EVERYTHING in the world with an adapter. I have 2 very strange lenses that were T-mount, one with uncoated pure quartz lenses that can focus UVB (!!) and an odd 200 mm macro with a 2 part helix. If you add film SLR's to the equation, Nikon and Canon don't even come close, like how many Zenits are there out there, and Practikas, and Zeiss, and Yashica, and Cosina, and Porst, and Vivitar, and Sears...

    @herbert-4: I understand your point, but on the other hand: you can get a decent secondhand Canon or Nikon SLR camera for maybe 10 to 20 euro or dollar. I bought last year a Nikon F80 with a 28-100 kitlens for € 25. So compared to the pledge for this lens that is only a small extra investment, maybe even less than an adaptor.

    @wesco The point, here, is not a 2nd hand Canon or Nikon SLR, but having the imagination to make the product as they might have in the 1960's, with a T-mount and adapters to fit every SLR in the world, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE!!! How many Lomographers have Zenits, etc??? Thanks.

    @wesco I think, there are more photographers out there, who want to get this lens for their camera instead of a camera for this lens. :P It would have been nice, if the LS would have released a Petzval for another target group. Most of my (digital, nonlomographic) friends got rid of their (D)SLRs in the last months to get smaller mirrorless cameras.

    While I love the Pertzval lens in theory, I just can't buy one. I would buy one of these in a second if if just had the choice of a flipping PENTAX mount! Come on lomo, you are cutting of your nose to spite your face by not letting pentax users have a true crack at this lens. And NO! I do not want to buy a frickin Cannon or Nikon (which I just dislike for so many reasons) just for the 'Privilege' of using this lens. Especially since I have a perfectly working SLR that I lOVE! Grrrrrrrr.....

    @asharnanae Thanks for continuing conversation. Nikon and Canon mounts is a very narrow slice of the market. I vote for a T-mount with adapters. That way, the Petzval could also fit things like Topcons/Exactas, too. I, also, have little use for Nikon SLR's.

    @HERBERT-4 Yeah, that would also be cool, hell anything that widened the usage of this lens would be! I just do not understand or agree with the reasoning for keeping this lens to only the two mounts.

    I agree, an M42 mount would have been useful. I shoot with a pentax k1000 and would buy this lens, but try as I might, I cannot find an adapter. I'm thinking the kind of people that would visit this site and discover your petzval lens are likely analog shooters (otherwise they'd be searching canon/nikon/sony websites). You've got a great product here but it's not exactly targeted to your particular customer base. I'm also thinking, why wouldn't you make a m42 (essentially a universal mount) version ONLY and then either sell or provide weblinks to the required adapters? Less unique inventory to stock. Larger market to sell to. I'm kinda bummed because I won't ever get to use this lens now.
